Life Ministries
Lectors,
Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Servers, Ministers of Care,
Ushers, Counters, Liturgy Committee Lectors proclaim the Word of God at Parish Masses and Liturgical celebrations. Eucharistic Ministers assist the Priest at Mass in the distribution of the Blessed Sacrament under the forms of bread and wine. Altar Servers are boys and girls who assist the Parish Celebrant in the Mass. This service is considered an honor and a privilege at St. Edward Parish. Training begins in the 5th grade of school. Ministers of Care are laymen and laywomen who have been mandated by the Archdiocese to bring Holy Communion to the sick, disabled, or homebound. Ministers may serve in hospitals, nursing homes, or private homes within the Parish. This ministry can only be undertaken after appropriate training in all aspects of pastoral care to the sick. Our Ushers are friendly parishioners who greet and assist in seating people at Mass, accepting the offerings and distributing bulletins and other materials as requested by the Pastor. Our Counters are assigned parishioners responsible for the safekeeping of the offerings of the faithful collected at our Masses and Liturgies. The Liturgy Committee assists our worshiping community in planning and implementing liturgical celebrations, evaluating the effectiveness of the liturgies, and coordinating the efforts of all who assist in these celebrations, such as the Clergy, Ushers, Musicians, Servers, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Sacristans and Decorators.
